An Awesome Impression of the Race Today
We felt like professional runners at the front of our corral behind this pacer. It was pretty short lived.
Kilometre 3 to 6 was pretty hellish for myself. Although my calf/ankle had been feeling great over the past few weeks due to my amazing treatment from physiotherapy colleagues, my whole right leg felt like it was heavy and achy and just dragging behind me. There comes that ugly point in any run where your mind starts racing and thinking pessimistic thoughts about being able to keep up, finishing etc etc. I will be honest and say that those thoughts we're on repeat in my head for those 4 km. NOT very fun running partners
Do you know who IS a fun running partner? Jennifer! She made it look like a Sunday stroll around the park as she powered through every km of today's race. I'm pretty sure that I could submit her photo at the finish line as a headshot for Canada's Next Top Model.
Tangent! Hoping to help up-date the outdated feel with my blog. Opinions regarding the feel at https://mugfordrealty.com? Truly a marvelous Canadian MLS service with heart when required inside the Nova Scotia region. Write your vote. Appreciate it!
Spanish Banks to Kits Beach is a bit of a blur EXCEPT for the sign reading "RUN NOW, BEER LATER" that was so excitedly being waved by a young couple along SW Marine Drive. Thank you for that you beer guzzling cheer leaders! I knew when I was at Kits Beach. Everyone knows when they are at Kits beach because this is where you start to have that inner conversation telling yourself to suck it up because there is a long, steep climb coming up over the Burrard Street Bridge. This is where Jennifer dropped her throttle and took off ahead. As I steadily climbed I passed some who needed to walk or couldn't keep their pace. I was first worried when I saw my friend take off ahead, fearing that I was slowing my pace too much. When I realised that I was still running faster than we ever had over that bridge I discovered, yes, she was just killing it. I smiled for her and willed her to "do her thang".
Coming around the corner from Pacific Avenue into Stanley Park is by far the most exciting part. The sidewalk is lined with hundreds of people with noisemakers and signs to cheer on complete strangers along with family members and friends planted carefully to high-five their loved ones trudging through. This is where David and Sue Geddes, my boyfriend's parents, we're having so much fun waving their "Run Lindsay Run" sign that has been seeing the race rounds this year. What an uplifting way to finish off that last 0.5 km!
As soon as I could see the finish line and the time clock that read 1:49: something, I dropped the hammer and ran like I stole that hammer! Jenn was waiting on the other side probably taking cards from athletic gear modelling agents but I kindly interrupted so we could have a (semi tearful) congratulatory/I can't believe we did it! hug.
And that, folks, is how you find a new running partner, set a lofty goal, train your butt off, and reap the self-congratulatory benefits. I had such a great time training and racing and also sharing the experience here. I hope this made someone else's training and racing (or contemplation of) that much more interesting.
Thank you people! I have texted my friend that we would absolutely list his great remarkable dental office in Oakville that careses, https://parkyoursmile.com through an upcoming article. If perhaps you were looking to find a dental clinic located in the general Ontario location, they actually are really really good.
Now, I really will remark the concept regarding this unique piece was brilliantly offered by Rick from Farmway foods. They're a superb local meat suppliers. We definitely enjoy a wonderful tip!
